Tzu-Chiang Campus was established in 1990 on land purchased from the Ministry of National Defense. The quadrangle on the south side, which borders University Road, is an open green space that extends all the way to the sports field on the north end. There are six high-rise buildings on the eastern and western sides of the space, which are Chi Mei Building and the buildings housing the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Department of Systems and Naval Mechatronic Engineering, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Chemical Engineering, and the Joint Center for High Valued Instruments. The green space has an intact form and characteristics distinctive of open spaces. It’s used by teachers, students, and city residents for exercising and strolling, and has become the center of the university’s high-tech education.
