Art Garden is a remodeling of a residential complex of three buildings called Guest House and completed in 1933. They have been revamped as an arts and culture salon and have become a core area on the NCKU campus. The three buildings were originally used as a guesthouse for international visitors and a kindergarten, so access was limited and many people had no idea what the inside looked like. What the new design proposal does is open up the perimeter walls and tidy the surrounding landscape. Under the proposal, a pedestrian corridor and a multitude of cultural activities serve to extend the campus’ existing historical and green central axis, which connects the Minor West Gate, NCKU Museum, the Industrial Design Department building, and Banyan Garden, enhancing the flow of the school’s public spaces and creating a light box for humanities and the arts.
