Chung Cheng Gym was the first gym on Kuang-Fu Campus capable of accommodating over 10,000 people. It was jointly designed by Wu Min-kang and Da Yin Partners Architects & Planners. The building was completed in 1975, the year Taiwan’s first president passed away. The new gym was therefore named “Chung Cheng Gym” in his memory.
光復校區內興建第一座可容納萬餘人的體育館。體育館由吳民康及達因建築師事務所聯合設計，1975年完工的本校體育館，完工同年遭逢臺灣第一位總統殉落，因此新體育館乃定名為「中正堂」，永懷逝去的領袖。
